Meet Matt Hernan
Principal Geologist
With over 15 years of experience in the Bendigo and Ballarat Gold mines, Matt specialises in mine geology, regional exploration, Resource estimation and reporting. He has a unique understanding of the geology of the Victorian Goldfields and has a passion for ‘good old-fashioned Geology’.
Matt’s Career
Matt started his career with BHP Billiton spending two years at the Cannington Mine in Far North Queensland. In 2004 he commenced work at the Bendigo Gold Mine working as an underground mine geologist until its closure in 2011. He then moved to Ballarat where he advanced his career from underground Mine Geologist to Resource Geologist and Geology Manager. He is a Fellow of the AusIMM, a member of the AIG and has acted as a Competent Person under the JORC code 2012.
